“Osaka” is a Meta-Physical Personal Narrative Piece that explores Justin’s stint in South Korea. Located close to Japan, Justin and his friends, Jin and Jacob, went to Osaka for a summer trip as unaccompanied teens for the first time. Drawing inspiration from Haruki Murakami, the narrator walks the twilight streets of Osaka with his friends after landing in Kansai Airport. Dealing with many cultural clashes and mental health issues, the story portrays a lot of Justin’s mental state or lack there of in the physical.

I Hate the Silence
“I Hate the Silence” is a piece about youth at risk and basketball. Returning to Canada in 2018, Justin had been removed from his hometown for two years. Confused and unsure of himself, he found himself going to the basketball court daily where he would meet many various people. Later after graduation, Justin would take sometime working at Rise Up Basketball in Surrey, BC helping coach youth at risk just like himself.
